Red Jacket Orchards is a great place to find local products. From their own value added juices – more varieties than you can count – to their jams and other products there is a taste you will love. They sell many other local products from Ithaca Milk Co. (fresh Jersey Milk) to Muranda Cheese to many other home grown products originating in the Finger Lakes region. The family purchased this location 52 years ago.

Their fresh fruit products fill a large, cooled room.  This room has displays of apricots, currants, cherries, raspberries, plums and much more.  Apples from cold storage were also available, awaiting the new crop of fresh apples.

They even have a reading area for Edible Magazine – encouraging locavores to relax while they contemplate their next sourcing of locally grown foods. JJ Nicholson, the third generation on the farm, greeted us at the market. He explained they sell their products to all of the Whole Foods Stores in Ohio and many other parts of the country.

The farm is certified in Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), working with Cornell University on this and other programs such such as IPM. They have built a new juice manufacturing facility using technology from the Food Tech. Park at Geneva, part of Cornell University.

You can find out more about them on their website or through their Facebook fan page.
