Union Square was our final visit for the day. This massive market was a hub of activity even though it was over 100 in the city! The market had been going strong since 8am.

Some produce looked a little tired, as did the vendors and customers. The sense of humor was still there – just ask Ron Stokes, Jr. who had an ‘interesting’ comment from a customer about how absolutely, positively wonderful his tomatoes were. This unsolicited testimonial from Donelle will be in the minds of the farm employees for some time.

Farm Fresh Milk was available from Ronnybrook Farm Dairy. They say the NY Times calls them ‘beyond organic’ because they go beyond organic certification standards on their farm. They have animal welfare as the #1 priority. They had a wide variety of dairy products available. Find them on the web: http://www.ronnybrook.com

There was much more at this market than we can get written into this blog! There were many vendors we just didn’t get a chance to talk with. If you want to learn more about these wonderful farms, see: http://www.cenyc.org/unionsquaregreenmarket
